Thanks to this class I have now finally gone to the HLS wiki an throw away a reminder note on my desk. Thank you for today I found the list of Web 2.0: Tools for Clinical Practice. I actually needed this list three months ago but I am so glad to have it today! I don't feel ready or qualified to add anything to the wiki yet but I did set up an RSS feed to several discussions. Blog vs wiki:
I think if your purpose or intent is to get a lot of people involve the wiki is a great way to go. You do need people willing to use the format. I tried to get out book club to use the wiki to bring up discussion questions, etc. since the presenters were coming from different departments and building but it didn't go well in part I think that was due to the idea of more "computer work". Blogs are more solo and I have hit upon a way I would really use one in my environment yet. I am wondering if MLA is going to have more committee work done on "closed" wikis. As a new committee member, I am interested in how we will be conducting business.

Week Two Assignment
I think I'm starting to get the hang of some of this! But I'm slow. My wiki is up although I'll admit it two tries. I started with a library theme but I don't really need a lot of input so not quite what I need in a wiki. On to idea number two - something fun! I'm the author of Location Adaptations and I hope people will contribute set locations for sites around the country. Now on to the rest of the assignment.

Week One Assignments
I was able to finish the assignments for the first week. Very interesting! I was surprised at the amount of time I am going to have to devote to this course. Not that the time isn't well spent just that it takes so much.
I can see using RSS feeds for my own interests and I can understand how others would find them helpful. One does need to keep reminding yourself to go and check all the links I put on my bloglines account. It was harder to find a journal I was interested in following than I thought. I suppose the number with RSS feeds will increase in the future. I think patrons would like to use the PubMed search feed although I believe I am one of those who will not see their links due to proxy server interference. It was helpful to read several comments regarding that possible glitch. A question that I wondered about was the benefits of using the RSS feeds with a PubMed search vs. a MyNCBI saved search? I will have to find the other comments from my fellow students to see if the question has already been asked. For now, I will post this comment. I have a nurse in mind that would be interested in the search I just set up for her with the RSS feed. I will wait to see what I receive in the next few days before I sit down with her. Can't wait and hope I remember all this - lots of notes!
At this point, I think the funniest event was my blogging site sent me a message that my site "has been identified as a potential span blog"! Like I know enough to fulfill such potential!
On to lesson two. . .

Week One of MLA's Web 2.0
Yea, I got this far! I've already fallen behind due to too many hockey games needed to secure a spot in post-season play. Now on to RSS readers and feeds.
